Gen. Alfred Gray spoke Feb. 25 on his support for two bills, S. 504 and HR 24 that would change the name of the Department of the Navy to the “Department of the Navy and Marine Corps.”

Gray served as the 29th commandant of the Marine Corps from 1987 to 1991. At the conference, he offered his support for the bills, especially the Senate version, which will be more difficult to pass.

“We’ll get it through the Senate this time,” Gray said.
