Rep. Walter Jones, who introduced HR 24, which would change the name of the Department of the Navy to the “Department of the Navy and Marine Corps,” highlighted the importance of his eight-year crusade at a Feb. 25 press conference.
He said it was ironic that the Marine Corps is not mentioned at the department level but that the name is mentioned in the stadium that houses Navy football. His bill has received more than 360 co-signers and looks poised to pass the House this spring. The Senate, however, is a different story…
