Press Advisory: Marine Corps League Press Conference Postponed by Blizzard
Tuesday, February 9th, 2010New Event Slated for Feb. 25
Washington D.C. – Feb. 10, 2010 – The Marine Corps League will hold a press conference Thursday, Feb. 25, in Washington D.C. to announce legislation that would give the Marines Corps equal status with the Navy.The event was originally scheduled for Feb. 11 but is being postponed due to inclement weather.
The conference will now be held at 5 P.M. in Room 122 at the Cannon House Office Building. Press and interested parties are invited to attend.

Actor known for his military roles lobbies for bill on naming of Marine department

The actor who played the drill sergeant in “Full Metal Jacket” is coming to Washington, D.C., next week to lobby Congress to pass a long-stalled bill.
R. Lee Ermey is the national spokesman for a growing grassroots effort behind legislation sponsored by Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.) and Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) that would rename the Department of the Navy as the Department of the Navy and Marine Corps.
