In high school, I was thaught that communism was evil,
And the people in a communism country did not have
Freedom of religion nor freedom to assemble no freedom
To protest against the government no freedom at all.

The Vietnam War was escalating in 65 and in 1966,
After my graduation from High School, I jointed the
United States Marines Corps because I wanted to
Stop commie dead on its tracts, I volunteer to go Vietnam.
I did not want for communism to come to the U.S.
So I joined the Best fighting Force. THE MARINES.

I agree with the Gunny, that any citation you earn, it is Title on top
United States Navy, and Marine Corps always is listed on bottom somewhere, no offense to the Navy but I served with the Marine Corps. It is time that we should be recognize.

I agree to a point but believe that the Marine Corps should be its own entity independant but working closley with the Navy

I agree with Gunny. All branches of service are great and contribute to this great country. Why not recognize the Marines either as a separate entity or at least with the acknowledgement along with the Navy. All service personel need to be recognized and honored.

Once a Marine, always a Marine. Semper Fi! And this is coming from an Army veteran.

I was a member of the US Air Force security forces during the Vietnam War. I know how it feels to have fellow warriors fall on the battlefield and seldom remembered for their sacrafice. I think if it were not for the US Marine Corps there might not be a free country here today. This is not asking much at all for a group of men and woman who have paved a history of service to our nation with their blood. My wife and I support you in this effort. BTW she is a disabled vet. Good Luck and we will be writing our paid representatives in Washington about this.

As a USMC Beirut Vet. I also support Gunny.. The Marine Corps has always been its own Branch of Service but was placed under the Navy many years ago to protect Navy personnel aboard ship… Those days are long gone and Marines are no longer needed in the crows nest to protect the ship from boarders and pirates. The Navy has their own team to do that now in the Seals. It is about time We as Marines are recognized as a stand alone Service.. No Disrespect to my Navy friends But you only give us a ride to the places we need to go to… Thanks but We are the Best of the Best.. The Few the Proud… Not everyone can be a Marine.. Semper Fi Devil Dogs…. OooooooRah…..

Have to disagree, the marines were there mainly to board other ships and for transport to other battle zones.

The Seals(like scout-sniper shcool or any sf or sog unit) are the elite of the best of the best. Don’t think any by them selfs could win a conflict.

Spent 3mo in Cuba in 77 got to know a lot of good Marines.
I agree they should be recognized, The Dept of Navy and Marine Corps shoulds good.
